Addressing children on wedding invitations?

I’ve read that the proper way to address couples with children on wedding invitations is to put Mr. & Mrs. on the outer envelope and then list the kids first names, oldest to youngest, on the inner envelope. I’m doing a pocketfold invitation for my wedding so there won’t be an inner envelope. How should I address the families I’m inviting?

Also, I think it’s a little weird to address divorced women who still used their married last name as Mrs. Can I just address them as Ms. or would that be rude?

I was always addressed as Miss or Ms. In mail as a child. Young boys under 13 are often addressed as Master.

Another site suggests the children be addressed by first name only included in the invitation to thier parents.

Wedding invitations -outer and inner envelope?

Hi Everyone, okay this is going to sound like a dumb question, but I don’t understand what exactly an inner envelope is, I just received my invitations, and they are pocketfold invitations and I am planning on hand writing the outer envelope, but my invites didnt come with an inner envelope, just an RSVP envelope, what is this inner envelope and do I really need it?

Back in the day (like the stagecoach days), they used to use two envelopes, so the inner one with the card wouldn’t get dirty or damaged and would still look nice after traveling all those miles. You were supposed to address just the names of the guests in the inner one, and then the regular address on the outer one. Basically, it was just extra protection.
Now, the post office isn’t so rough and people don’t really care. It’s really only carried on because of “tradition” and profit for printing shops. I’ve only seen them with very formal invitations. Since yours are pocketfolded, I don’t see why a second envelope would be necessary.

    b) The HIV virus is amazingful because it coats its lipid envelope with the same proteins and glycolipids that coat human cells. The virus's envelope is a phospholipid bilayer, just like human cells. This is how the virus manages to evade the immune system. A drug that attacks these proteins would also attack the proteins in the host (the human).

    However, HIV does have its own proteins, called Env 120 and 160. Both of these are under study as possible drug treatments. But… studying membrane proteins is really difficult, and it's hard to develop a drug to attack the protein without knowing the folding structure.

    c) Reverse transcriptases convert the RNA, the information storage form in HIV, into DNA, which can then be used to hijack the cell to a) splice the virus into cellular DNA or b) produce many HIV viruses that can then burst out of the cell and attack new cells. Reverse transcriptase inhibitors would stop the proteins that convert RNA into DNA, which would prevent HIV from replicating. This won't damage human cells because Reverse transcriptase serves no functional purpose in human cells.

    McDonald's likely has this requirement to make people who want game pieces to go to more effort in order to get them. If they didn't require the envelopes to be handwritten, it wouldn't be hard for someone to create hundreds or thousands of envelopes in order to get as many requests as possible.

    Either are acceptable for the outer envelope. If your wedding is formal or semi-formal I would go with mr. and mrs…. If your wedding is casual I would go with John and Jane smith. The invitation is the first clue to your guests how to dress appropriately for your event, so you can adjust the formality level to reflect that.

    I rhink calligraphy is so beautiful. It make me think of the old and golden days!

    I'm going to put the bike and the old days of Romeo & Julliette. It looks like a beautifully written wedding invitations, etc. I just really think the time and effort that people used to write in it must have been very time consuming.. Hope it's not too hard to learn! I've said for years that I wanted to learn how to do it. I suppose it will be “slow to go” but maybe it won't be as hard. Wish me luck LoL!

    I've never been to a wedding that had a wishing well. Will this one be full of water? If so, it sounds like a creative, scenic touch to your venue, it would go well with flowers…. but if someone uses it, they will be throwing a penny – or a quarter at most – or maybe a silver dollar if you're extremely lucky – into it. Maybe I'm not picturing a wishing well, maybe I'm just thinking of a pond.

    There is no polite way to express on an invitation what type of gift you want.
    If you prefer not to receive anything other than cash, don't register anywhere – but don't be ungrateful when someone brings you a wrapped present that they took time to pick out.
    And you must send out a thank you note to everyone who gave you a gift – cash or otherwise – to show your appreciation, even if you don't appreciate it.

    McDonald's likely has this requirement to make people who want game pieces to go to more effort in order to get them. If they didn't require the envelopes to be handwritten, it wouldn't be hard for someone to create hundreds or thousands of envelopes in order to get as many requests as possible.

    c) Reverse transcriptases convert the RNA, the information storage form in HIV, into DNA, which can then be used to hijack the cell to a) splice the virus into cellular DNA or b) produce many HIV viruses that can then burst out of the cell and attack new cells. Reverse transcriptase inhibitors would stop the proteins that convert RNA into DNA, which would prevent HIV from replicating. This won't damage human cells because Reverse transcriptase serves no functional purpose in human cells.

    Oh sorry I… didn’t realise. I’ve taken a close look at a vintage LPS/SOX light 10 years ago and it starting method was resemblant with America’s Rapid Start (magnetic) ones. Does Sodium conduct electricity differently to Mercury? That could be what because low pressure sodium bulbs are like fluorescent tubes but they just don’t have any mercury or phosphor, instead they have sodium vapour in a low pressure argon-filled clear-glassed tube.

    No, not in your wedding invitations. Did you or are you going to have a shower? Thats where your resistry info goes.

    The theory is that your wedding is a party you are hosting for yourselves, its never ok to ask for gifts for yourself, your shower is a party that someone throws FOR you, thus its ok to include gift information.

    Even though it will make it easier for your guests, its still not good to breach this particular code of good manners. Honestly, people do not look kindly on some things no matter what year this is. Regsitry information is one of those things that never really progresses with the times. If you even offend one person by doing this, it isnt worth it, believe me.

    Tell your mom, his mom, and your bridesmaids, if people want to know about a registry they will ask or they will give you money so you can buy your own stuff. Have good manners and dont add those little cards that they stores give you (BTW, do you think the stores really care about good manners? No, they care about people shopping there for you and their bottom line. of course they tell you to put those cards in your envelopes) or any other registry information.

    Different viruses have different mechanisms of multiplying. Some viruses have DNA while others have RNA. A retrovirus like HIV has RNA that it inserts into the host. This RNA is then converted to DNA in the host utilizing reverse transcriptase. Inhibiting that would obviously prevent the viral RNA from converting to DNA.

    Don't do word of mouth, people may feel left out if they weren't the first to know.
    Pick a theme, and go with that. If it's casual and in the summer, even a paper the shape of a flip flop with all the info on it. Or just classy white (maybe resume) paper with a nice border and the info left at their place at the table, under the favors? There are a number of options, but I would try to make it something that reflects you as a couple or your honeymoon, etc. If it were me and my hubby, a paper shaped like a wine bottle would have worked.
    Can also use a disney character
    like to read? Invites that look like a book
    like to ski….
    like to dance…
    you get the idea. Something that somehow relates to you and your hubby (to be).

    b) The HIV virus is amazingful because it coats its lipid envelope with the same proteins and glycolipids that coat human cells. The virus's envelope is a phospholipid bilayer, just like human cells. This is how the virus manages to evade the immune system. A drug that attacks these proteins would also attack the proteins in the host (the human).

    However, HIV does have its own proteins, called Env 120 and 160. Both of these are under study as possible drug treatments. But… studying membrane proteins is really difficult, and it's hard to develop a drug to attack the protein without knowing the folding structure.

    c) Reverse transcriptases convert the RNA, the information storage form in HIV, into DNA, which can then be used to hijack the cell to a) splice the virus into cellular DNA or b) produce many HIV viruses that can then burst out of the cell and attack new cells. Reverse transcriptase inhibitors would stop the proteins that convert RNA into DNA, which would prevent HIV from replicating. This won't damage human cells because Reverse transcriptase serves no functional purpose in human cells.

    The other issue for me is that, at least so far, these are not yet therapies to treat HIV but rather an approach prevent infection. By contrast, tenofovir-emtricitabine, as found in “PREP”, is a drug therapy used to treat HIV. Giving it to HIV-negative people orally may work–but only if they are highly adherent. With stronger adherence, though, comes the risk of either being infected with a virus already resistant to the drugs, as well as outrageously enormous cost and significant potential for toxicities, including bone and kidney damage. Meanwhile, those drugs are desperately needed by many people living with HIV who so far have not been given treatment.

    The more tools we have in the arsenal to prevent and treat HIV disease, the faster we can eliminate this scourge from the planet. A cure for HIV is what we need!]]>

    Set invitation on table face up.
    Place RSVP and any other cards on top of the invitation in descending size, smallest on top.
    The RSVP card should be placed on it's envelope with the flap hanging over (the front of the envelope will be face down).
    Once you assembled all these materials, sslide them into the inner envelope so they are face up when your guest pulls them out.
    Turn the inner envelope over and write guests names on front.
    Slide this into the outer envelope so that the names are face up when your guest pulls it out.

    As for addressing, just do what makes sense. I thought you weren't a stickler for rules. The inner envelope provides an opportunity to clarify, repeat, or underscore who exactly is invited (and therefore who is not invited). If "and family" are invited, then yes, you should clarify that with the childrens names inside. If it's a couple with no kids, and therefore no clarification needed, you can either leave the inner blank or use mr & mrs outside with their first names inside. It would be awkward to write each persons first and last name on the inner envelope as you mentioned in your question. Instead, just write "John, jane and Sally" for the smith family.

    ** Sorry but common sense is wrong on a few things. The RSVP does not go behind the invitation. The inner envelope back flap should be touching the outer envelope front. And, you do not write exactly what was written on the first line of the outer envelope address: the inner envelope serves to further clarify or make it more personal with first names only.

    I have found many examples of creative or non-traditional wedding invitation wording. Some of the most unique examples I’ve seen have been on invitations for theme weddings.

    For instance the following was on an invitation for a beach themed wedding:
    Love washes in like the tide
    Soothing the parched sand
    Carol Henderson
    and
    Michael Wilson
    Invite you to share our joy
    As we proclaim our vows
    day month year
    Time
    Wairanado Beach
    Honolulu, Hawaii

    Probably one of the most unique wedding invitations I’ve ever seen was for a western themed wedding. The invitation was designed like a wanted poster and read:
    WANTED
    A posse alive and willing
    to witness the marryin’ of – - -
    etc.

    I have also seen some great non traditional wording on invitations for non-themed weddings. Such as:
    Please help us celebrate
    as we ask God’s blessing and yours
    on our marriage
    Maria Teresa Williams
    and
    Sean Michael Harrison
    date, time,
    place
    street, city, state

    Or:

    Kelly and Marissa Harrison
    and
    Thomas and Amy Connor

    McDonald's likely has this requirement to make people who want game pieces to go to more effort in order to get them. If they didn't require the envelopes to be handwritten, it wouldn't be hard for someone to create hundreds or thousands of envelopes in order to get as many requests as possible.

    Looks like another idealistic architect's pet project in search for “sustainable living”. The only problem is projects like this only get us half way there. They get the sustainability part without much effort, but completely forget about the fact that is has to be livable. This is not a reasonable solution to sustainable living now, nor will it ever be. For a truly sustainable future, we need to develop projects that make sense from a planning perspective for the masses in varying densities.
